Warm and Electric minds are proud to present their second Ostgut Ton label showcase of 2011 on Friday August 26th in what promises to be a very special Bank Holiday event. Marcel Dettmann, Marcel Fengler, Efdemin & Steffi will be taking over Cable across two rooms. They will also be joined by a very special guest who will be announced nearer the time.

Launched in 2005, from the very beginning Ostgut Ton has of course been intimately linked to Berghain and Panorama Bar, and the symbiosis between the club and the label has been central to its output. Berghain and Panorama Bar have left an indelible mark on the work of its residents, acting as both testing ground and launch pad for a body of music that has become one of the most influential strains of house techno to come out of Germany in the last decade.

For this very special evening we will be joined by residents from both clubs. In the main room we will be treated to sets from Marcel Dettmann and Marcel Fengler

Along with Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann is one of the most recognisable faces of Ostgut Ton, and one of the major figures in modern techno. A resident at the original Ostgut club and at Berghain since its opening in 2004, Dettmann is a tour de force, equally at home releasing music on his own MDR label, remixing the likes of Fever Ray, Junior Boys and Modeselektor, or crafting his widely acclaimed Berghain 02 mix CD and artist album for Ostgut Ton. As a DJ he is renowned for his marathon DJ sets at Berghain. Joining the dots between innumerable styles of electronic music, he manages to connect the dots in a way in which few other DJs are able. His set is guaranteed to be an absolute treat.

Like Marcel Dettmann, Marcel Fengler has been a Berghain resident since day one. His contribution to the so-called ‘Berghain sound’ cannot be underestimated, with DJ sets that are characteristically offensive and dynamic, hard and consistent, but also surprising and emotional. A similar versatility can also be found in his studio work, bringing disparate musical influences together to create passionate original productions and remixes that have become much loved staples of the Ostgut Ton discography. In his own words, “it is important to me that music tells kind of a story, it has to be varied and it has to snake through the night in waves.”

The second room will feature sets from Steffi and Efdemin.

Dutch born DJ, producer and label own Steffi has become an important and much loved figure in electronic music in the past few years. The brains behind the label Klakson (along with Dutch producer Dexter), her Panorama Bar residency came after she was invited by nd_baumecker to audition a mix for the clubs bosses. She quickly landed herself a monthly slot and a reputation for her considered and versatile selections and a natural mixing style. Her collaborations with vocalist Virginia, including Yours and Sadness, are instantly likeable – and danceable – house tracks with a distinct respect for the genres heritage combined with a desire to forge her own distinct sound. Her debut artist album, Yours & Mine, was released this year and is an outstanding testament to Steffi’s love of house music

Berlin-based Efdemin producer aka Phillip Sollmann has lead the way forward through the converging thickets of minimal, deep house and techno for a number of years. He released his debut self-titled album in 2007 – regarded as one of the most artfully crafted LPs of that year, and his second album, Chicago, released in May last year, is hard not to hear as being even more carefully structured and considered. His appearance for us back in May was a masterclass in house and techno, so we just had to invite Phillip back for what promises to be an impeccable evening of music.

Joining Marcel Dettmann, Marcel Fengler, Efdemin & Steffi will be Innervision’s Ame who will play a 3 hour set in the main room.
