Hardlife w/ HOUSE OF TRAPS (Firecracker Recordings)

Art & Culture

HARDLIFE is a brand-spanking new Dalston party formed by DJs Emma, Rob Mathie, Sean Clare, Höhle and promoter Paul Riddle.

The experienced crew bring a very modern take on the classic house sounds of Chicago and Detroit with some beatdown disco vibrations. Think early Cajual vocals, Salsoul screamers and vintage Moodymann 12s and you’ll start to get a feel for what’s in their bags.

Saturday 21st April marks the first Hardlife party in the heart of Dalston and coincides with Record Store Day.

Hardlife's affection for vinyl is reflected in their first headline guest, House of Traps. The Firecracker Recordings head honcho is behind a true buy-on-sight label – home to Linkwood, Fudge Fingas and Vakula. Often found DJing alongside the Firecracker collective, this is a rare chance to see the main man take centre stage.

Firecracker Recordings are renowned for their inimitable attention to detail in their vinyl releases. Silk and screen prints, coloured vinyl and hand-stamped sleeves adorn their 10” and 12” releases.

Those who like to get down:

Emma
Resident with the legendary Chibuku parties in Liverpool for 8 years, Emma's played alongside many of our heroes and has become a mainstay of the annual Garden Festival in Croatia. Now living in London we've made it our business to snap her up as Hardlife resident.

Rob Mathie
As DJ and promoter of Edinburgh's solescience Rob played alongside Maurice Fulton, Paul Woolford and Fudge Fingas and even warmed up for Harri & Dom at the Subclub. Hardlife is a daily operation for this guy

Sean Clare
Fresh from a recent warmup slot for Chez Damier at Back2Basics Sean's best known for the energetic bounce of his peaktime sets at the much missed De La Techa parties. An understated legend.

Höhle
As resident DJ of the massive City Fly nights Höhle's move to London has already turned heads and his skills as a producer have already seen him remix Detroit legend Rick Wade. Watch out for this young turk.

It's £3 B4 12, £5 thereafter
