Disco Bloodbath Easter

Art & Culture

Ahead of this Thursday's Disco Bloodbath Easter Special at Hysteria Damon Bloodbath talked us through five tracks from their line-up this weekend, TIAGO (DFA) : PETE HERBERT : WAZE & ODYSSEY : JAMIE BLANCO (live) : NATHAN GREGORY WILKINS :

TIAGO – NADA A PERDER
This is the B-side to Tiago's 2010 release on DFA. 'Disambiguation', the A-side, has definite kosmische overtones while this more of a balls to the wall club banger. Heavy drums, a relentless bassline and swirling synths topped off with two surefire dancefloor winners – cowbell and piano stabs. Wallop!

WAZE & ODYSSEY – FEEL THE MUSIC
This is a perfect summary of Waze & Odyssey's sound. A modern take on a classic sound. Full of energy and dripping with soul.

BAKAZOU – YELLOW FEVER (REVERSO 68 REMIX)
This is one of my all time favourite Pete Herbert productions. I used to play this at pretty much every Disco Bloodbath for the first year or so that we did the party. It still sounds amazing.

JAMIE BLANCO – NIGHT CLOSURE
Jamie is a real talent – definitely one to watch as far as I'm concerned. This track has been a favourite of mine since it was released last year and sums up what I love about his music – it has a rawness to it via the vintage equipment he uses but it still sounds fresh rather than being a Chicago house rehash.

IT'S A FINE LINE – WOMAN (A MAKHNOVSCHINA REPOSESSION)
Our final guest, Nathan Gregory Wilkins has some original music lined up for release later this year but since that hasn't hit Youtube yet I thought I'd choose one of my favourites from his label History Clock. This is an edit by It's A Fine Line of a G.B. And The Tracks record from 1978. Surprisingly, Ivan and Tim added very little to the original. The synth sounds and electronic effects which all sound so contemporary were already there and they really just did a pure edit job by cutting out certain sections and altering the arrangement. Played at the right moment this record has the power to make people lose their shit.

Disco Bloodbath happens this Thursday at Hysteria.
