1 Year Of Northern Purpose:

Art & Culture
NORTHERN PURPOSE HAS TURNED ONE!

That time has come – Northern Purpose reaches the 1 year mark.

For this special landmark we will be celebrating in style, pulling together a line-up that showcases the true ethos formed by the NP boys over the past twelve months. The focus, as always, is on record selection and true purveyors of the vinyl form.

With this in mind, we have invited three guests that we admire greatly. Flying in from Detroit we have the legend that is Mike Huckaby. It’s difficult to know where to start with a DJ/Producer of his pedigree, this is the man behind the legendary Record Time store in the Motor City, where he gathered an encyclopaedic knowledge of music.

Mike’s solo productions on his two labels, Deep Transportation and S Y N T H have seen great success and recently his baseline 87 EP on Sushitech sold out before it was even released. Mike will always be at the forefront of his sound, he is an innovator…an educator.

The next two DJ’s are truly part of the NP family. First up Dubbyman, who played the last set at the first Northern Purpose party one year ago. We have been long admirers of his Detroit influenced deep house cuts on Deep Explorer Music and are delighted to be welcoming him back for the celebrations.

Last but not least, we have Jane Fitz, who is by far one of the best female DJ’s around and a close friend of Northern Purpose. There are not many around with a music knowledge like hers and she has the DJ skills to match. Her sets build, layer by layer, conveying her eclectic musical influences – which range from Soul, through to House and Techno.

The night will take place at the great basement space that is BAR A BAR in Dalston. It’s been an amazing year and we hope that you can join us to make this one to remember!
