A transmission from deep within the French underground.

Sarcus Soundsystem, the trio of Ubik, Jacky Jeane and Olga B, have been quietly doing something right in Paris for a while now. Their various endeavours around the capital have drawn attention through noise, care and curiosity. A genuine investment in the spaces they use and the people who fill them.

As a collective, their extended sets are built on patience and a restless instinct. Fast-moving rhythms colliding with strange, slippery melodies that work their way into your head before your feet have even caught up.

This is a dancefloor with a mind of its own. Follow it somewhere.

Please introduce yourself…
We are a trio called Sarcus Soundsystem, composed of Jacky Jeane, Olga. B and Ubik. This name comes from the eponymous festival we used to organize together, where we shared a musical curiosity, benevolent energy and ecological and inclusive values.
In our sets, we navigate freely between deep and percussive techno, taking sharp turns between bass music, breaks and trance. Residents on LYL Radio with “Poterne des Peupliers” show, we also explore the more experimental side of music, offering selections of ambient, dub, trip-hop and left-field pop.
We find harmony within the trio by complementing each other’s different personalities, talents and projects.

Where was the mix recorded?
This set was recorded at Karmen Camina in Strasbourg that had recently opened and invited us to play all night long back in November 2024. It’s one of our best memories in a club, we played for 8 hours, in this big dark red box upstairs, the sound was excellent, a lot of friends came in and we were able to build very slowly throughout the entire night. This podcast is the beginning of our 8 hours journey.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?
Noé : I’ve been really moved by the track ‘Archeological Longing’ by the Irish artist Elaine Howley. It is an eerie, dreamy, beautiful track, in which her voice is healing something.

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?
Noé: I am thinking of two sets that were milestones in our perception of a DJset, and influenced us in this particular podcast.
Donato Dozzy’s 2017 closing set at Terraforma festival is a slow burning, spiritual, one of a kind mix.
Together, we also listened a lot to a set by Jita Sensation on Rinse France – JTA-80-160 – where there is a surprising variety and poetry in the selection.

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?
Lilas: If I could B2B with someone from throughout history, I’ll choose someone in the present to make it realizable. I’d love to play with Nono Gigsta for her/their boundless freedom in the mix, the surprise and the fun it could be to write a fiction together.

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?
Gab: Untitled FIII by APE out on fuck punk record is the kind of track that is difficult to pull out in a set, it’s very distorted and intense, I always have it ready in my playlist but never find the right context or moment to play it. Really looking forward to the first time I will play it.
