8 Tracks: The Belgrade Hardcore Continuum with Vladimir Ivkovic
Next up in our series is a man who needs little introduction, our readers will likely be very familiar with the eclectic taste of Vladimir Ivkovic – a DJ who never fails to delight and amaze drawing for obscure oddities and dancefloor destroyers with equal merit. He’s also one of the nicest guys around and that sure as hell goes a long way these days.
Anyway, last month he released a wonderful mixtape via Moopie of A Colourful Storm’s sub label, Fleetway Tapes. It showcased a side of Vladimir’s musical repertoire which we hadn’t heard before. A collection of chants and gospels with deep personal emotion and reflection connected as Vladimir explains:
“Gospels For Moopie is a one-take recording of an intense 90 minutes, at least for me. Lots of musical manifestations are transmissions from dreams in which some pieces find each other – and such dreams often mark the end of periods in certain spheres. Gospels For Moopie is one of those goodbyes.”
Given this release, we felt it right to ask Vladimir about what else he’s into. The music he listens to and loves behind the scenes – it turns out that’s the Spice Girls….. just kidding.
Anyway, here’s a collection of hardcore from Belgrade, he spotlights local bands in 8 tracks…

This one will forever instantly take me back to April 15, 2017, when mighty Slobodan Brkic, also known as DJ Brka, played the ultimate heartbreaking set on the 20/44 boat in Belgrade. Somehow my heart didn’t burst that afternoon and I’m able to share the link today.
