Premiere: Last Magpie – Redemption

Depleted of energy, but unable to bring his spiralling thoughts to a standstill, he writhes past his sleeping partner and edges towards the front door. Bicycle in tow, he sets upon the tarmac, hypnotising his brain with a sequenced roll of street-lamps and speed bumps. With the presence of himself and the occasional chancer, systematically trying car doors along residential streets, it seemed more than just foxes come out at night.
Next up on Man Power-helmed label Me Me Me comes Last Magpie’s debut LP, ‘Kissing Stones’. Taking inspiration from the idyllic backdrop the producer has called home for the previous few years, the full-length serves as an electronic reflection of blissful isolation in the Yorkshire Peaks. Our pick is hyper-emotive track ‘Redemption’, a skilful weaving of delicate textures, choral synths and an anchoring bassline motif, culminating in elevated house-music of the highest order.
