Premiere: Dandana – Free The System! (Philou Louzolo Remix)

Out on Belgian label Rebel Up! Records, the release of ‘Free the System’ by international collective Dandana couldn’t be more perfectly timed. The two-track EP is a call for unity, and makes a compelling case for freedom against an oppressive system.
Littered with traditional West African-rhythms and space-age sounds, It resonates with a message of hope at a time when the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement takes its place at the forefront of the world stage. Our pick, Philou Louzolo’s excellent uptempo remix supplants the slower afro-rhythms of the original with a more driven sound, underwritten with dynamic halftime shifts and a hypnotic arpeggiated motif.
