Space Is The Place with Paramida

Music

Paramida's DJ sets are certified show stoppers. Eclectic and exciting in her selections, you never quite know what you're going to get when she steps behind the decks. And that's just the way we like it.

After five years spent working at Berlin's OYE record shop, she left to concentrate on touring and her label Love On The Rocks, which is now celebrating the five year milestone. To honour the occasion she's invited friends and family of the label – many whom have previously graced the imprint – including Violet, Etbonz, Fantastic Man, ELLES, Das Komplex and Kornél Kovács.

Following the release of Supergau: 5 Years of Love On The Rocks, she charts some of the tracks that, for her, translate that outerspace feel…

Dee D. Jackson - Galaxy Police

I love Dee D Jackson. Her most significant songs are “Automatic Lover” and “Meteor Man”. This one I didn’t know and heard for the first time at A1 records in New York. It sounded super proto Prins Thomas disco-like and I went and asked what it was and bought it straight away.

  • Native Love - Megatron Wo-Man ( Hi Nrg Man Mix )

Everyone knows Patrick Cowley’s ‘Megatron Man’, which is an instant classic. I’ve picked this track called Megatron Woman by Native Love (one-off producer Joe Long) that came out on Salsoul in 1983. I love this track, it covers ‘Megatron Man’, but has its very own groove. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the mix that I play on Youtube (it should be the OG mix, not the High NRG Man Mix), so you get this version. But let me tell you, I’ve played the OG on a Sunday afternoon at Panorama Bar and it was amazing! PS: you can find the OG on Junodownload, it’s way more stripped down.

  • Herbest Moon - Blow Your Body (Francois K Deep Space Dub)

Ok, everyone loves Francois K. I do, especially, when he does percussive stuff. This song is so good, it blows my mind every time I listen to it. I also played it in my Dekmantel Podcast.

  • Dance 2 Trance - We Came In Peace

OMG, total classic. When it comes to a theme like Space Is The Place this tune can’t be missing.

  • Sheila & Black Devotion - Spacer

I love this song so much. The first time I heard a DJ playing it, I went later to him and said you played “Crying At The Discotheque” (lol), which is obviously a cover of this beauty. It’s so good and is definitely part of the soundtrack of my life now.
