Iron Curtis – Last Tracks Of A Night

Music

We've all been out on the dancefloor, wishing that the night would never end yet knowing that – due to the nature of time – it must do at some point and we'll have to head out into the night just in time for the sunrise. However, there's something very special about how the last track of an evening makes you feel as it can dictate how you're feeling for the day ahead. Iron Curtis understands the vital need to get this essential part of an evening absolutely spot on and he's compiled a list of sure-fire hits for us. Here's what he had to say about his selections;

"I compiled a list of some of my favourite 'last tracks of a night'. Tunes I would play out as the last track of a night – when the set went down well and the last people standing demand for a bonus/extra. Expect some drama and grand emotions in the list."

See Iron Curtis at fabric on Saturday 1st August – find out more here.

Iron Curtis appears on Black Key EP Vol. 3 released on 21st September.

Jori Hulkkonen - Whispers (Original Mix) [F Communications, 2000]

The glory days of FCommunication and the most emotional cut by Jori Hulkkonen for me.

  • Jori Hulkkonen - Whispers (Original Mix) [F Communications, 2000]

The glory days of FCommunication and the most emotional cut by Jori Hulkkonen for me.

  • Kaidi Tatham & Dego - Got Me Puzzled (Feat. Face)

I was so happy to see the two broken beat maestros having a comeback with recent releases on Eglo and Sound Signature. However, ‘Got Me Puzzled’ will remain my favourite of the pairing for ever and ever and ever…

  • Gang-K.K.K.-Dub Mix

Did not know abut this Italo disco classic until my mate Johannes Albert pointed me to this. If there is no reaction in the crowd when the choir drops, then I would…

  • Curtis Mayfield- We Got To Have Peace (1985 Version)

    No words necessary here.

  • Extra Produktionen - The Mothership

Berlin-Kreuzberg based Extra Produktionen Trio who later merged into Erlend Oye’s Whites Boy Alive band project. You gotta love that German accent!

  • Wake Up! 001 A2 - Rising Sun - Change

In comparison to the other tracks a more recent one. Sounds timeless although released in 2013. Simply beautiful.

  • Leonid - Potsandpans - Sistrum

This record will never ever leave my bag. Still one of my favourite Sistrum releases and definitely a dramatic record with a bassline that could only be topped by the one in the last track in this list…

  • Tin Man - Falling Acid

The combination of that Larry Heard tribute baseline and the playful 303 will not only give me the shivers whenever I hear it but remain the perfect last track of a night for me.
