Influences: Kim Booth From Cosmic Pineapple

Music

From time to time we like to showcase some of those who work behind the scenes, those who might not have a chance to tell their tales at the expense of working bloody hard and supporting the continual evolution of electronic music and beyond. Ladies & Gentlemen, Kim Booth…

She tells us more about the ethos and music which has helped inspire her lonstanding musical and wellness series – Cosmic Pineapple.

"Cosmic Pineapple is designed for people who are curious to know more of our cosmic existence and who want to have some fun whilst they are here. Over 12 hours, inside the rainbow of magic and possibility,  you can do everything from get your tarot cards read, to learn meditation, to sip a strawberry daiquiri and people watch around the pool, to shop in the cosmic bazaar, to dance in the Space Rave. The events mix the music and magic side of Ibiza, so you never quite know who you will meet or what will happen. There is something for everyone and little surprises in every corner.

Even though now I am a yoga teacher and work with sound healing, I come from working in dance music and have many years on dance floors. I am going to give you what I would imagine the soundtrack to the 12 hours of fun, exploration and celebration. Each event is for charity and this year we are focusing on healing mamma earth. I have this dream of people coming to do the whole 12 hours and those who do are transformed by the magic forever !

Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda - Om Rama (Official)

The Cosmic Activation Dome is where we do yoga, meditations, cacao ceremonies, soul song, inspiring talks and sound meditation journeys. etc…

“This song gives me all kinds of cosmic tingles. If I could put the cosmic activation dome into a feeing this would be the song I would like to give it. The dome is the kind of place that you may be a bit scared to enter if you have never done this kind of thing before, but then you get stuck in and before you know it you’re dancing with your eyes closed and hugging a stranger, without having taken an E.”

  • The Love Unlimited Orchestra - Welcome Aboard

This is where you can have a bit of fun with the music and be a bit balearic and kosmiche around the pool. I vision sparkles and kaftans and colourful shit shirts (when I say shit I mean great) a plenty.

“I found this on a Colette CD mixed by Joakim and listened to it on repeat and sent to everyone I knew – when I find something I love everyone knows about it! I would love to open the pool party with this and swan around drinking a pineapple punch of some kind.”

  • Salt-N-Pepa - Shoop

“We all need a bit of 90s r&b in our lives, this gives me memories of when I was little and learnt all the words from Smash Hits magazine. If I could wear gold hot pants I would be dance around the pool in gold hot pants lip synching to this.”

  • Olivia Newton-John - Magic

“This is what I would call balearic. I would also lip synch this one and point at people walking by and waving at the sun, believing I am communicating with the powers above.”

  • David Bowie-Sound And Vision

“This would be the moment just before sunset. A little respite moment sitting down enjoying the wonders of music. This is my favourite David Bowie song… I love it because it sounds like it’s unfinished.”

  • Joni Mitchell - Woodstock (Live In-Studio 1970)

“Just as the first stars come out and the sky not yet quite dark. This would work well to listen to whilst laying on one of the sun beds and smoking some splaffs.”

  • John Forde - Star Dance (1977) Video

“This is kaftan wearing music material. I would like to wear a kaftan and sip on some sparkling water to this. Bubbles!”

  • Imagination - Just An Illusion (Hd)

“The dusk hours as sunset goes down and we get into the night. This is the moment when some of Ibiza’s night time characters would come out, wearing some strong looks and then night time energy starts to rise… “

  • Anumberofnames Sharevari

“The night has arrived and the night time people come out to play. Would love to close the pineapple pool party with this and head to the Space Rave. This gives me tingles!”

  • A1 Afrodeutsche - Day Tuner [Skam]

This is Freddie Mercury’s old bedroom and we transform it into the Space Rave. When I say we, I mean anyone who I can find to help me stick up planets and hang things from the ceiling. I’m obsessed with it having a UV light and on most events we are last minute trying to find a UV light to use in the Space Rave. Each time the space looks totally different and it itself is an art project. I love all of the event in many ways, but personally, the last two hours are my favourite part as this is when I don’t have to worry about anything and can just dance with my friends on the dancefloor. Cici is the cosmic resident and she gets the energy of the Space Rave perfectly.

“You know if fairy techo existed this would be it. My friend Hen made this and I love to dance to it. She played her first ever live show in the space rave. If I could open the Space Rave with one song and watch people come in to dancing to it (with their wickedest dance moves), this would be it.”

  • Carl Craig - At Les

“I worked with c2 for many years and like all good artists, there is a track for every occasion. This would be the energy builder in the Space Rave.”

  • Jamie Jones - Amazon

“One of my favourite Jamie Jones tracks and his first release! It is like getting lost in the jungle at night, which is what a dancefloor can sometimes be like.”

  • Mr. G - Daily Prayer

“What a beautiful soul song. Serious moves and heart opening diva.”

  • Josh Wink - Higher State

“I remember this from when I was a kid and probably only of the first rave tracks I ever heard. Recently a kundalini yoga teacher I know shared a video of this with her students going mental to it, and made me smile! It reaches time and space and the rave to the yogis.”

  • Underground Resistance - Transition

“I love music with a message. I remember Laurent Garnier playing this at The End in London and my head was blown. In my top three dance tracks of all time.”

  • Octave One Feat. Ann Saunderson - Black Water

“Would love to end on this and give everyone that feeling going home. The first time I heard this track was when DC10 used to open at 8am. I went around 9am and Steve Mac was playing it inside as I walked in. It was just a wow moment. The strings!”

  • Tui

So the last thing I have to do before I leave is take down the rainbow at the entrance . Which I pretty much always get told off by Mika for forgetting to do and get random people to help me get it down at 4. 30am. I am always knackered when I leave and on the drive home I like to listen to music that calms me. This song resets my soul. It’s from a proper cosmic couple who live in south America.
