Influences: Hiem

Bozzwell: Massive fan of this period from Bowie, and having spent so much time in Berlin over the years, when I listen to this I’m transported into Kreuzberg for a while.

Nicco: Tender Games have made a beautiful record here, which lends itself to my playlist on repeat, the vocals seem so at ease sitting on top of the track.

Bozzwell: Yes, I know it’s not cool to like Progressive Rock, but I’m not ashamed. I was there, Deeside Leisure Centre, 1981 on the Abacab tour with my two brothers. Changed my life, and they even did the whole 28 minutes of ‘Supper’s Ready’.

Nicco: Hiem did some records with Crosstown Rebels a long time ago. Ali Love did some stuff with them too later on. Roisin’s on this who I always remember dancing onstage with Bozz at Reading Festival where we both met and started working together. Good times.

Bozzwell: Mathew Dear always strikes the right balance for me, from the early more techno stuff to right now, he’s someone that cares about words and melody, and there’s not enough of that in electronic music. ‘Asa Breed’ is the album for me.

Nicco: This features the late Tim McCall on guitar, I used to play in a band called The Crybaby’s with
him years ago. This is a Jarvis social commentary on how we all have to stick together, and not let the powers that be brush things away through the crooked media anymore.

Bozzwell: This one’s always in the box, Italo was/is ace. Think this one gets first prize for me, always a big influence on the Hiem sound.

Nicco: Always an influence on the Hiem sound in a weird ’70s Persian disco folk way, this track just wants me to jump up and speak another language in mime.
