Brackles – Influences

Music
Loefah - Mud (Overtime)

Was influenced by the big subs and the drum patterns of this. I wanted to capture some of the old DMZ at mass vibes.

  • Loefah - Mud (Overtime)

Was influenced by the big subs and the drum patterns of this. I wanted to capture some of the old DMZ at mass vibes.

  • Dj Oddz - Champion (overtime)

This was a big influence on the riff on overtime, wanted a grime style hook like this.

  • Rustie - Zigzag (go)

This one got me inspired for the bass patches on go, I love rustie’s use of synths and how colourful everything sounds.

  • Doris Norton - Norton Apple Software (crybaby)

I heard debonair play this on her radio show and it blew my mind, it sounds like actress but thirty years earlier. This influenced the way the main synth in crybaby keeps evolving.

  • Skream - Midnight Request Line (crybaby)

I’m a sucker for an arpeggio and always end up trying to squeeze one in my tracks. You can hear this influencing the intro to crybaby.

  • Horsepower - Django's Revenge (nottingham Daze)

Nottingham daze is about the times when me and my mates would get in from raves and stay up listening to in fine style and el-b. I love the horsepower albums and they have influenced me since I started making beats.

  • Dnd - Future Rage (nottingham Daze)

The other big influence on Nottingham daze is broken beat drum patterns. I used to listen to j da flex show religiously back in 2005 and this is one of my favourite tracks from the broken beat days.

  • Mj Cole - Crazy Love (Go)

This one has been a favourite since I was 14, the string melody at the beginning of this influenced the early melodies on go.
