Attar! – Influences

Music

Renaud Deru has been a fixture on Brussels club scene for several years now, making a name for himself producing tracks under a variety of guises from Mustang (along with A.N.D.Y.) to Cosy Mozzy. Recently he’s been working under the name ATTAR! and has quickly built up a devoted following with acclaimed remixes for everyone from Giorgio Moroder to Gossip and Propellers. He’s just recently signed to the famed Eskimo Recordings and created a continuous mix of the label’s latest compilation ‘The Pink Collection’.

Renaud will be playing in London on Saturday 5th of October at Corsica Studios , alongside the like of The Glimmers, Trevor Jackson and Moonlight Matters, at the launch party for Belgium Booms, a week long series of parties, gigs, club nights, film screenings and more celebrating Belgian electronic music, past and present.

Air & Jean Jacques Perrey - Cosmic Bird

That track was available on a “vinyl only” Source Lab compilation end of the 90’s. It’s so kitsh but so lovely! I still play this track at the end of some of the best nights, when the crowd is ready for this.

  • Clubfeet - Everything You Wanted

Available on the last opus of this nice australian band, it’s my favorite track of the album. I should try to remix it…

  • Thee Madkatt Courtship - Cosmic Pop

Thee Madkatt Courtship is one of the side-project of the dude Felix Da Housecat. I think that this album was never released except on vinyl… And i got it. I used to play this track a lot during my residency in Brussel’s Dirty Dancing Club. It was one of the club’s classics.

  • Common Factor - Get Down

I discovered house music with Common Factor, and this track. I was search for the vinyl for more than 5 years! I finally found it in a vinyl shop in Paris.

  • Alba - Only Music Survives

So good. It’s one of my “end of the night” classics.

  • Street Corner Symphony - Symphonic Tonic

This track was playlisted in the Claudio Coccoluto’s Mixmag compilation in 1998. One of the best old school house/disco tracks ever.

  • Nu Spirit Helsinki - Take It Back

One of my favorite tracks on one of my favorite old-school-deep-house music labels, Guidance Recordings. This track is full of melancholy and love.

  • La Funk Mob - Motor Bass Get Phunked Up (richie Hawtin Remix)

I used to play this track in all of my sets! I’m a huge fan of Mo’Wax (90’s period) and I have the whole collection on vinyl. This minimal funk track is a killer!
