8 Tracks – Applescal

Dutch producer Applescal has been exploring layered beats and hypnotic trance-like rhythms in search of creating a sound that will blow you away within an instant. He has combined with graphic designer Hessel Stuut on his latest EP – 'Mirage’. We asked Applescal to give us a selection of songs that have helped impact the sound of the album. Here's a little more information on the selection from the man himself;
"This is a small collection of tracks that inspired me to make the ‘Mirage’ EP. The tracks are very different and most of them are not even close to how the new EP sounds. But that’s the great thing about music. Some small details (from any genre) could inspire; that’s what these tracks did. Some I just listened to over and over and gave me a good feeling inside. Some are more technical and gave me ideas to try different techniques."
Applescal's 'Mirage' EP is out now via Atomnation. For more information on Applescal, see his official website.
This is how music should be done. I love the way the vocals are used in this track. One of my favourite songs of 2014 so far.
