George the Poet has been bubbling under for a couple of years now – latest single 1,2,1,2 may well be the one that breaks him into the mainstream. The track, produced by Welsh boys Bodhi has all the hallmarks of an 80s house classic, with fat bass line, rat-tat-tatting carnival drums, jazzy chord stabs, and optimistic, euphoric lyrics all present and correct. A debut album is promised from Island Records, expected early next year.
