Stream: Mr Mitch’s Planet Mu Debut Ep

Mr Mitch has been turning heads for a couple of years with his heartbroken response to grime. The producer – who insists that the music he makes is still grime – has been slowing down tempos, adding mutated vocals and warping synth lines to a lurching drag, with the end results a kind of emotional coma-grime, full of melancholy and romance.
His Planet Mu EP opens with a track assaulting Black Street's RnB classic Don't Leave Me, taking it to the icey estates of East London in winter. It's a a sound that's part of a long lineage of UK innovation, and quite unlike anything else out there. Recommended.
