Slam To Release Round Up Of Glasgow Techno Scene

Music

Slam have put together a new compilation of the finest electronic talent coming out of Glasgow. Transmissions: Glasgow will be released through their own Soma label, and features cuts from the likes of Gary Beck, Harvey Mckay, Edit Select, Hans Bouffmyhre, Clouds, and Slam themselves.

Somewhat ironically, the first taster from the compilation is a colaboration between Slam and Gary Beck called Pressure Lights – named after Slam's seminal Pressure night that has been so pivotal in Glasgow's techno scene. Having taken place in the Arches since first starting in the 90s, Pressure is currently without a hoime; The Arches has closed after going into administration, a result of police removing the venue's late license, effectively stopping it from running in any meaningful way.

It's a severly cock eyed situation that the city finds itself in – compilations such as Transmissions: Glasgow are all the proof needed that Glasgow has a thriving, internationally acclaimed music scene, and yet the council appear willing to let the venue that has been absolutely crucial to that scene fall to the wayside with barely an eyelid batted.

No doubt Slam will find a new place to hold Pressure, but until then fans will have to console themselves with the comp, release June 29th. More info on the Soma facebook page
