The London based duo release an album built around ethereal textures and whimsical influences from folk and beyond to create something dream like and enchanting.

Pet Deaths have self released a new album, the record dropped earlier this month and is titled ‘The Window (Part One)’ and has already been praised by tastemakers and critics alike.

The duo is made up of Liam Karima and Graeme Alexander Martin who bring with them a fiercely DIY aesthetic, releasing music on their own termsvia their Silver Mind Records label.

The album is comprised of ten tracks which were written at Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire, a residential studio where the band would lock
themselves away with their longtime producer Ian Davenport (Gaz Coombes, Slowdive) for as long as their money afforded.

Liam describes some of the influences and rationality behind the record:

“One of my all-time favorite films, one I can return to again and again, always discovering something new is ‘Rear Window’. For those who haven’t seen it, this Alfred Hitchcock classic stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly, and Thelma Ritter. It follows L.B. Jefferies, a photographer who, after breaking his leg, finds himself confined to his apartment. Out of sheer boredom, he begins watching his neighbours through his rear window, gradually becoming obsessed and paranoid about what he sees.

I found myself in a similar situation around the time we began writing this album, my window was a descent into darkness and hibernation, digital voyeurism, isolation, and morality, themes that shaped the songs you hear. I was L.B. Jefferies whilst penning the words, I became my own cult leader. I dreamt of flying into other people’s houses dressed as a dragonfly. I conversed with the television. The soap operas became my Salomé opera. I made friends with suspected murderers and Aphex twin obsessives on YouTube pages.”
