School Daze, the retrospective double LP of of the recently unearthed works of Patrick Cowley, was released this past Saturday, the day on what would’ve been the disco pioneer’s 63rd birthday. Over 80 minutes of music, School Daze features tracks that were made for films released by vintage gay porn company Fox Studio. Yesterday Out.com shared a video, created by Dark Entries’ Josh Cheon using clips from the 1980 release School Daze, for the track “Mockingbird Dream” which is part of a longer suite in the original film. Check out the video at the bottom of this post, or click here to watch it on out.com

The release of School Daze will be celebrated with two very special parties taking place in New York and LA.

On Halloween Josh Cheon will take to the decks at Output’s Panther Room, along with Further Reductions, Alyssa and Kiss & Tell DJ Bethany. Downstairs Vatican Shadow, Silent Servant, Raime, Veronica Vasicka and Becka Diamond will be keeping it creepy with their own brands of dark, gothic, electronica. For more information make the jump.

On the 16th of November at LA’s MOCA Pacific Design Center, this groundbreaking musicians work will be celebrated alongside two other seminal artists, Bob Mizer and Tuoko Laaksonen, aka “Tom of Finland”, two of the most recognizable figures in 20th century erotic art. The event is free and open to the public.

If you aren’t able to attend either of these events, be sure to tune into Beats in Space on October 24th, where Josh Cheon will be spinning some of Cowley’s greatest tracks.
