Metronomy
Joe Mount’s new excursion into off kilter dance pop sees melodies plucked from the wurlitzer piers of old seaside England grafted to an exquisitely bitter sweet pop song. The Look is a lament and a love song to the small town, propelled by new member Gbenga Adelekan’s emotive bass funk and some near perfect vocal harmonies. Over the course of four albums Metronomy have quietly become an indie mainstay, producing countless mini master pieces of melancholic electronic fragments that stay just on the right side of credible left field pop. This track is no exception, and it deserves to be another hit for a band that are steadily evolving into something way beyond their early promise.
