L. Pierre Announces Last Ever Album

Aidan Moffat has announced his final ever album under his L. Pierre alias, it’s due out on Melodic on 28th April. The LP, entitled 1948, is to be released on ‘naked vinyl’ coming without even a paper sleeve to protect the record. Speaking about the concept, Moffat has said that he doesn’t “want a pristine, digital document that could last forever”, he plans to delete all of the original files upon release date as well as removing all online promo streams.

All the samples on the record come from Nathan Milstein’s version of a Mendelssohn concerto, which was the first ever 33 1/3 rpm long playing record, released in 1948. The release will also feature a locked groove at the end, meaning that the listener dictates when it ends.
