joe rush exhibition at outsiders gallery
A stunning new exhibition from sculptor Joe Rush (he of Mutoid Waste fame) is currently running at The Outsider gallery in Newcastle. While the Iron is Hot is a collection of relatively small, relatively affordable original sculptures. Rush’s work has adorned the Pyramid Stage at Glasto and took center stage at the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
“There’s a school of assembled object artists who just bring items together. I try and make them look like they’re meant to be together”, says Rush of the scene-stealing sculptures.
Apparently the Outsiders gallery (part of the Lazarides empire) is packed to the rafters, with the show proving super popular – so if you’re up in the North East be sure to sharpen your elbows in order to get a chance to see it – the show runs until 15th February.
