James Blake – Limit to Your Love

James Blakes hugely anticipated cover / remix / re-imagination of Feist, finally gets a release. Blakes idiosyncrasies, heard on his stunning Klavierwerke release, are deftly applied here with haunting effect. But rather than sliced vocals samples, “Limit to Your Love” lays bare James Blakes fragile, soulful voice. Delicate, non-chalant piano resonates in an empty room before it comes to shimmer over a chest-throbbing sub-bass that’s so deep, air deserts your lungs. The track yields to a break that seems to hold space in suspension. When it finally drops, well… I can’t wait to be in a crowd and hear this played out.
