Exclusive Stream: Kiwi & Ashworth – Dawn EP

New East London imprint Sneaky hit the ground running with a well heralded release from young guns Silk 86 in late autumn and follow it up with this luscious slab of euphoric, ambient at times, forward thinking house music from Kiwi & Ashworth. We’ve got an exclusive stream of the full EP below.

Alex Warren (Kiwi) and Joe (Ashworth) both DJ (Kiwi dropped by for The R$N mix a few weeks back), run club nights, produce, and love a lot of the same music so it seemed long overdue for them to get in the studio together and collaborate. South London based Kiwi’s music combines influences from disco, funk and house and has seen a string of releases on labels such as Needwant, Days Of Being Wild, Kitsun” and Jack Savidge/Edwin Congreaves’ much acclaimed “Deep Shit.”
Ashworth is a relatively new moniker that east-London based Joe has been recording under, with the focus on underground house and techno, boiling up a similarly diverse melting pot of influences. His debut release on Baalsaal received praise and support from Dixon, DJ T and Josh Wink.

Lead track ‘UCX3′ is a drawn-out, swelling, half-euphoric-slow-pumper heavily influenced by Pachanga Boys’ “Time.” Zubr is a haunting, mellow piece, with Joe attempting to show off his prowess on a 60’s Wurlitzer drenched in its accidental noise, pops and click. Wild card of the release, ‘Dusk,’ stays clear of the drum machines, and paints a subtley epic picture.
