Egyptrixx Returns With ‘How Tidal’ – a retrospective reimagining ahead of new material
Toronto producer David Psutka revives acclaimed alias with reworked catalogue highlights and new tracks, set for November 14th release
After years of dormancy, the Egyptrixx project is set to make its return. Toronto-based musician and producer David Psutka will release *How Tidal* on November 14th through his own Halocline Trance label, available on vinyl, download, and streaming platforms. Rather than a conventional retrospective, the 16-track collection serves as a sonic bridge between past and future, featuring reworked versions of catalogue highlights alongside brand new material, preceding a slate of fresh music planned for 2026.
Psutka first gained prominence in the 2010s as an early member of the influential British label Night Slugs, alongside producers including Bok Bok, Jam City, and Ikonika. His experimental dance music earned the descriptor “celestial jeep music for a Saturn moon,” characterized by colourful sound design woven into dancefloor structures that balanced euphoria with introspection. His 2011 debut album *Bible Eyes* received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, The Wire, and Resident Advisor, establishing Egyptrixx as a distinctive voice in electronic music.
*How Tidal* maintains Egyptrixx’s signature approach: cutting-edge and futuristic, yet accessible, merging multiple strains of bass music with techno-pop bounce alongside ambient passages. The release represents just one facet of Psutka’s multifaceted practice, which includes the ACT!, Anamai, and Ceramic TL projects, plus his role as founder of Halocline Trance—a creative collective and label that has established itself as a platform for innovative Canadian music with a roster including Casey MQ, Myst Milano, and L Con.
