Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor has announced his seventh solo album, Paris In The Spring, set for release on March 13th via Night Time Stories.

The announcement arrives alongside the first single “Out Of Phase,” a cosmic-country collaboration with Nashville singer-songwriter Lola Kirke.

The new record finds Taylor assembling an impressive roster of collaborators, including Air’s Nicolas Godin, The Avalanches, Étienne de Crécy, Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside, and Ewan Pearson. The album blends leftfield pop, country, disco-house, and Vangelis-inspired soundscapes into what Taylor describes as British Americana meeting Gallic flair.

“Out Of Phase” channels the late David Lynch’s influence into a duet exploring love and yearning. Taylor notes the song references two of the director’s films and emerged from his collaboration with Oli Bayston. Kirke, whose acting credits include Gone Girl and Sinners, released her own album Trailblazer and book Wild West Village in 2025.

The album’s title refers to a psychological test where things aren’t as they seem, fitting for a project Taylor describes as his most revealing work yet. While the lyrics explore heavy themes, the music remains bright and contemporary—influenced by Paul McCartney’s pop melodicism, Sly and the Family Stone’s futuristic funk, and what Taylor calls “synthesisers left out in the rain.”

“Sometimes an audience wants to be told, what is this?” Taylor explains. “And I’m refusing to do that. You can find great things in music when you open up to real listening.”

A music video for “Out Of Phase,” directed by Will Kindrick (Hot Chip, Ice Cube, Cardi B), is coming soon. Taylor will announce European and North American tour dates on January 19th.

Paris In The Spring is available for pre-order now, with “Out Of Phase” streaming on all platforms.
