A 15 year old boy has died after attending an illegal rave in East Croydon. The boy has been named by his school as  Rio Andrew. It is currently believed that Andrew died after unwittingly drinking a beer laced with ketamine. A 19 year old who was at the event has also been taken ill under similar circumstances.

A bit of online digging has suggested that the party was run by promoters Rum & Bass, who had commandeered an ex Postal depot in East Croydon to hold the large scale rave. Over 1,000 people showed up, with police pelted with missiles in the early hours of the morning as they tried to shut the party down. The police responded by making several arrests – according to BBC News

"Officers entered the building at 08:30 BST on Sunday.

A total of 14 people have been arrested in connection with the event, including nine arrested during the party.

Two men have been charged with violent disorder and drugs offences, while a 47-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were given cautions for possession of class A drugs.

Three men were also arrested on suspicion of money laundering, while a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. All five have been bailed."
