Last Waltz – Ears Exclusive Mix
It's finally happened! We've been courting Last Waltz for a while now. So much so that Geoff – one third of the duo – has had to take out a restraining order against us and only communicates through the Indian to the right…
The ascent of this lot has been swift in the world of the slow mo. In just a few short weekends they'll be headlining the first Bad Passion Project for quite some time, which got us a little hot under the collar. So we asked em to record us a lovely lil ole mix. God bless em!
Last Waltz are based in the North East of England.
They often get referred to as Geordies to the delight of Mick and Geoff, but to the dismay of Lee, whose roots lie in Newcastle's rival city, Sunderland.
Last Waltz made their name as DJs locally via their nomadic party, Dada, which tries to breath life in to interesing, unique, and often derelict, buildings across Newcastle and the surrounding areas.
Last Waltz started releasing their own music in 2012, first with their interpretation of Peter Godwin's disco-glam opus "Criminal World" (also covered by Bowie), which they released on their own label "Object of Disraction" and which featured a remix by their friend, and fellow North Easterner, "Phoreski" (aka Richard Gateaux).
Since then the trio have gone on to release a steady stream of incredibly well received records on an impressive list of labels including Endless Flight (Mule Musiq), World Unknown, Futureboogie, Tusk and Lets Play House (to name a few).
I wonder what these three chaps look like? Hark I have found a photo for you. What a good looking trio they are too:
Last Waltz now also fulfill an impressive gigging schedule that takes in some of the best clubs throughout the UK and Europe, as well as globally renowned festivals including The Garden Festival, Electric Elephant, Unknown and Beacons…
Musically, Last Waltz represent both the three very different musical approaches of its members, as well as the point where all of their tastes meet.
For this mix Mick from Last Waltz has provided a special solo recording, which showcases one of the facets of the Last waltz sound.
Read an indepth interview next week on the site…
