Legendary dub band Creation Rebel make a triumphant return after over forty years with their latest album, ‘Hostile Environment,’ set to release on 6th October through On-U Sound.

Known for their classics like ‘Dub from Creation’ and ‘Starship Africa,’ the trio of Crucial Tony, Eskimo Fox, and Magoo, along with producer Adrian Sherwood, present a contemporary twist on their iconic dubwise rhythms.

The album pays homage to the band’s roots, featuring preserved vocals from their former live band leader, Prince Far I, on archive tapes. Additionally, guest contributions from esteemed artists such as Cyrus Richards, Gaudi, and Daddy Freddy further elevate the record’s musical diversity.

The title ‘Hostile Environment’ sheds light on the UK’s controversial policy towards asylum seekers and the recent Windrush scandal, which resonates deeply with Creation Rebel, a group of Jamaican musicians who have faced the shadows of a colonial past.

The album’s sound ranges from low-slung funk to spaced-out psychedelic dub, reflecting the band’s collective musical DNA. Producer Adrian Sherwood’s collaboration with Creation Rebel showcases the collective talent of these seasoned artists, crafting a powerful and timely showcase of dub music’s enduring influence.
