Cover Club #2: Matt De Jong

Art & Culture

After kicking off the Cover Club series with the magnificent Terry Pastor (interviewed here), the event returns this evening (20th May) to downstairs at Ace Hotel where the special guest for this second outing will be forward-thinking art director Matt De Jong.

As the man behind a number of recent key album artwork pieces in recent years, De Jong has established a well-deserved reputation for getting the best out of the more 'difficult' artists. His portfolio includes working with Cat Power, Derrhunter, Vampire Weekend, Peace, The Maccabees and more. He was also behind the artwork on the latest Paolo Nutini album which shot straight into the top spot in the album charts, giving his cover some much warranted screentime.

Looking forward, Matt will be producing work for the likes of Clean Bandit as he pushes his claim to be one of the world's most-renowned album cover artists.

Tonight, Matt will be delving into the stories behind his work as well as selling some very limited edition prints at an event-only price. To top it all off, the evening will be soundtracked by Matt’s childhood friends Orlando Weeks of The Maccabees and Lionel Skerratt – Co-Founder of Public Information Records.

Catch Cover Club #2 – Matt De Jong downstairs at Ace Hotel, Shoreditch from 8pm tonight – entry is free. Check out some of his work here.
