Comedy Slice #63

Art & Culture

Pay day is a coming! After the long long extended wintery month it is finally on its way! And truly we deserve a splurge after being so pennilessly frugal this past couple of weeks post Xmas/NYE. Bring on the champagne amd whisk me to Fortnum’s via Harvey Nicks. Or alternatively a pint and a spot of comedy will do.

Friday 31st // Ross Noble and Special Guests // Cutty Sark // 12.50

Improvisation shows can be the most gratifying or the most frustrating. With improv from a master such as Ross Noble with his long raven locks there is no chance you’ll be in for a painful night for this Geordie has received mass critical acclaim for his original live performances. Now he brings a new show of improvisation to the table which night features Suki Webster and different special guests. And to make the night even more unique it’s taking place on the Cutty Sark.

Fri 31st – Sun 2nd // Fringe Winter Weekender // The Phoenix // 10

If you are looking for an intense weekend of comedy yet put off by the consistent downpours then fret not, The Phoenix has got your back. Following the roaring success of its week-long mini-festival last summer this pub is back with teasing weekend taster of comedy. Packed to the brim with top comedians including Tong Law, Robin Ince, Alan Davies and many more this is the best in comedy all in one place. Specific picks of ones to see amongst the bunch would be the Sunday matinee with Katherine Ryan or if Saturday comedy is more your bag then ensure to get tickets to Bridget Christie and Kevin Eldon, it’s sure to be a sell out.

Sunday 2nd // Twisted Loaf: Half Baked // Leicester Square Theatre // 10

A new sketch duo is on the scene for 2014. Fresh faced from being crowned Funny Women Award winners in 2013 Nina Smith and Libby Northedge are the ones to watch. In this show Libby’s goal is to display for our delight the full range of her talents but there is just on little thing getting in her way – Nina. Given in and lose yourself to this bright, silly sketch duo’s antics. You won’t regret it.
