Art & Culture

Richard King, author of 'How Soon is Now' is having his latest work 'Original Rockers' re-issued in paperback with new artwork in July. His account of the several years he spent working in a Bristol independent record shop in the early 90s, it blends memoir and elegiac music writing on the likes of Captain Beefheart, CAN, Julian Cope, roots reggae and Massive Attack. Vinyl may be back and thriving, but after its demise in the 90s came the erosion of independent record stores, and the book recalls the debauched glory days. Richard will also be appearing at two literary events in Bristol and London over the coming months.

Richard King – Original Rockers is published in paperback by Faber & Faber on 7th July 2016. He will be appearing at Stoke Newington Literary Festival on 4th June, info and tickets can be found HERE.
