Hayward Gallery To Host Dineo Seshee Bopape

Art & Culture

The Hayward Gallery Project Space is set to host one of South Africa's most exciting contemporary artists, Dineo Seshee Bopape, for her first solo exhibition in the UK running from August the 26th until 27th of September. Her work incorporates short, kaleidoscopic videos which are often paired with sculptural installations made from items such as brick, timber, plants and mirrors to form loose structures. Her work explores the human experience with a spy camera installation and also offers distorted landscapes and surfaces as a background to the exhibition.

Bopape was born in Polokwane, South Africa and is a Technology graduate of Durban University along with completing an MFA at Columbia University in New York. She has exhibited all over the world, including the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Pensylvania and the Mart House Gallery, Amsterdam. Her exhibition, slow-co-ruption, in the Hayward Gallery Project Space is part of the larger exhibition Africa Utopia at the Southbank Centre, which celebrates the arts and culture of Africa including talks, debates, exhibitions, fashion and music.
