Im Tryna Tell Ya has been two years in the making. Documenting the pulsating creativity of the Chicago footwork scene, the film was made when the Don't Watch That camp, a UK outfit known for their championing and documenting of the grime scene, travelled to Chicago to try and get a better understanding of the crazy new electronic sounds coming from Chi-Town. They ended up shooting reels of intimate and candid footage from right across the scene, linking with the DJs, producers, MCs and dancers who are gradually turning a local genre into a global phenomenon. Particularly moving are the long interviews with DJ Rashad, who passed away earlier this year – watch below, and check out the Dont Watch That Youtube channel for bonus footage.
