As festival season works it's way up to full speed, we're keeping an eye out for line ups that offer something with a bit of depth to 'em. Festival Forte looks to be one such event- the Portugese techno fest festival takes place between the 27th & 29th of August in Castelo Montemor-O-Velo near Coimbra, Portugal, and has a bill that aims for a deeper shade of dance than many of the by-numbers bookings we've seen elsewhere.

The festival is saet to open with Lumière II, an intricate audio/ visual spectacle created by Robert 'Monolake' Henke – to quote the press release, "the work is based on hundreds of audiovisual notes, organized into four parallel streams, to create a highly synchronized and unprecedented immersive experience. The laser’s light is projected onto a large screen, in which the whole experience is visualized, being the result of the projection itself and also by the effect obtained by the combination of smoke and beams of light, coming from a spotlight that extends to the screen. The composition thus generates fragile temporary objects, floating over the audience. The laser features let you combine complete darkness with extreme brightness and create moments (pure white light) with saturated colors and intense and precise movements with organic and complex forms."

If that all sounds a bit too Jean Michel Jarre, things look to roughen up a bit with a Saturday night show from Front 242, followed by a set from Regis – both experts at industrial sonic decimation. Other notable appearences over the weekend include Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Vatican Shadow and Ellen Alien For more info on the festival, head over to the website here, and watch the trailer video below…
