Junkette is a party borne out of a desire to expose under-appreciated overseas artists and to marry them with the old and new sounds of London, while keeping our party shoes firmly on..

A ‘junket’ is an excursion for the purpose of pleasure at public expense, a definition we felt was fitting for our party. Just at whose expense our feminised version of a junket, ‘Junkette’, decides to reign on, we will have to see…

Room 1 – An Overview:

The dark low ceilings and booming Funktion One soundsystem of the intimate basement will host the sounds of Berlin record label Suol, and their deep, grounded and organic house and techno music.

Suol have proven a force to be reckoned with since launching in 2007, releasing a number of essential cuts from artists such as Till von Sein, Trickski, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Zander VT, Kollectiv Turmstrasse and label owners Chopstick & Johnjon.

When we attended their label party – and album launch of new darling Fritz Kalkbrenner – held at the legendary Watergate, Berlin on a Wednesday evening, we witnessed a sold out club within an hour of opening, an incredible musical progression and one the warmest atmospheres we have experienced in a club, and we knew we had to have them over to London for a showcase.

A very rare opportunity to experience the appearance of all the artists and also the live debut of Fritz Kalkbrenner in the UK, whose album shot to number 5 in the iTunes charts in Germany, some achievement for an underground electronic music album.

Room 2 – An Overview

While the basement represents the sounds of Berlin, the upstairs area boasts a fantastic showcase of London talent – the unrivalled experience and taste of the legendary Bill Brewster combined with jozif, a fabric favourite and a producer/musician who is hotly tipped across the board, working with artists and labels such as Wolf + Lamb, Craig Richards, Ben Westbeech, Mobilee, Compost and Infine.

Expect a finely tuned, eclectic experience with no boundaries.
