First Wave Of Artists Announced For Worldwide Festival 2017

Art & Culture

Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival is returning to Leysin (Switzerland) from 23rd to 26th March 2017. Known for it's intimate and communal feel, the first batch of acts have now been announced for the 2017 edition at the Alpes Vaudoises resort.

Some of these confirmed acts include: Mark de Clive-Lowe, Red Greg, Henry Wu, Jameszoo, Tommaso Cappellato, Nia Andrews, Lefto, Nikitch, James Stewart, Clementine, Leanne Wright, Chris P Cuts, RadioMeuh DJs, St James, and of course Gilles Peterson, with many more acts still to come…

South Londoner Henry Wu has been labelled as one of the most exciting producers south of the river this year – and there are a fair few to choose from. Drawing on all shades of music, his diversity is also apparent in his DJ sets, where his mixing style gives him room to deliver on his sound knowledge of funk and jazz, to more contemporary house tunes.

Jameszoo's brand of “naïve computer jazz” will make for a nice mountain-side soundtrack, while Italian producer and drummer Tommaso Cappellato is another multi-faceted artist with sets ranging from techno to hip‐hop to jazz. California singer-songwriter Nia Andrews and her mesmeric singing voice also features on the eclectic lineup hand-picked by Gilles Peterson.

For those grabbing a ticket, the four day festival will mean a wide range of music during the day by the slopes, followed by aprés-ski parties down at the bottom, with DJ sets and live music in various venues around Leysin.

Tickets start at 90 Euros, which includes a 4-day ski pass – bargain!!!! There is also a week pass available at a reasonable 130 Euros for those who wish to ski for the whole week (20-26 March).
