Desert Daze

Art & Culture

What started as an epic 11 day sound showcase in 2012 has morphed into a more manageable one dayer. But Moon Block Party's Desert Daze Festival is well worth a look, as the collective are known for their ability to bring in big names but create an intimate and friendly vibe. You might not get Tupac style holograms but you will get great bands in a gorgeous setting and, as it's California, there's guaranteed sunshine. This year sees festival regulars and natives Warpaint take the headline spot, but that's not all there is to look forward too. Deap Vally's will bring their heavy riffs and smokin vocals to the stage and there's also some highlights planned in the form of Minus the Bear performing their 2004 EP They Make Beer Commercials Like This and a special performance of Mystical Moon Music from Carlos Nino and friends, with the friends coming in the form of Luis Perez and Christopher Garcia.

There's a strong psych/ shoegaze vibe to the whole event courtesy of sets from DIIV, solid alt rock courtesy of the ever underrated Failure and cut and paste collage style hip hop in the form of RJD2.

It's basically a super sonic celebration in an incredible setting. See Desert Daze's full line up here.
