Bestival 2012
Art & Culture
After 7 years of festival showcases, Bestival is back for it’s 8th. Spread over 10 fields at the Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, the Bestival crew offer up 20 stages of live music, DJs and performance arts for 4 days this September – the closing party of festival’s if you will!
Offering a roster of talent ranging from classic to cutting-edge, from the live acoustic to the electronic, there is a range of acts. The XX, Emile Sande, Hot Chip, David Rodigan and the pièce de résistance… Mr Stevie Wonder – to name a few – will join the Bestival rankings this year… and of the ‘underground’ electronic ilk come sets from Moodymann, Julio Bashmore, Oneman, Pariah, Pearson Sound, Scuba, Maya Jane Coles, Claude Von Stroke & the Dirtybird gang, Blawan, Mosca, Gilles Peterson and many more. It will also play host to everybody’s favourite reggae-spinning pensioner, DJ Derek’s last ever festival set!

There is also plenty to do besides the music… from everybody’s favourite festival wake up call – Mr Motivator to The Lost Cinema screening a journey from 20s to present day cinema from the classics to the deranged and round to documentaries, the Roller Disco (at your own risk!), the 100% certified Wishing Tree and the infamous inflatable church for under-the-influence festival marriages!
And of course for your more cultured side… talks from conspiracy-man David Icke, comedy from Damian Clarke & Benny Boot, and giant origami with Mazy’s Art School are a few of the things on offer. And what of this year’s fancy dress theme…? Wildlife! And if you’re struggling for ideas (and a sucker for ridiculously cute things) then head here for some inspiration. http://babyanimalz.com/
And if that’s all too much to remember head to bestival.net to create your very own weekend lineup.
