THURSDAY 21st APRIL 2011
Adventures In The Beetroot Field

Tradition is as much part of life as the calendar is and for us these two very important pennies drop simultaneously in April with Adventures In The Beetroot Field, our annual peacock like display of ascension rituals. Over the past 6 years AITBF has marked Easter Thursday on a grand scale, presenting an indoor festival thats populated by the latest and greatest bands and DJs across all three rooms here at fabric. Forging an unrivalled reputation for unearthing those acts that are destined for much greater things its the archetypal warm up for the summer festivals with AITBFs hit rate recounting previous successes including Hot Chip, Florence and The Machine, Friendly Fires, Brodinski and Mount Kimbie.

This years installment will be no exception; the lineup spans modern takes on the classic house and disco templates, providing ecstatic dream pop alongside industrially tinged electronic, micro chopped hip hop instrumentals and grunged up indie rock. Itll also be taking a diversion into contemporary R&B thanks to So Bones a tri-city (London, New York and Bristol) celebration of everything that is great about this overly produced, sexed up, chart bothering music who are hosting Room Three with sets from Romy xx, Night Slugs Girl Unit, DJ TARJRKR and the collectives main protagonist, Tri Angle.

The players on the 2011 AITBF lineup have been responsible for some of the biggest dancefloor anthems of the last 12 months. Infecting nightspots the world over with their own sound signatures producers like Tensnake, Riton and Mehdi (appearing together as Carte Blanche) have impacted on listeners with their own manner of disco and electro respectively. Artists like D/R/U/G/S use melody jaggedly, putting the constant shunt and experimental melody into their music whilst acts like the Young Turks signed CREEP, transplant a little of that same dark edged texture into songs that are a little more hummable; something that Camden based rock quartet, Tribes, also excel in when writing their melody lines.

Having sparked scrub fires across the nations airwaves and prompting acres of breathless praise across independent press and the blogosphere, all the artists on the lineup are on the tip of the proverbial tongue in the first quarter of 2011; and as ever, we invite you to take fabric and AITBF by the hand as we guide you through the soundtrack of the future.
