8 Acts To Catch At Warehouse Project 2017

Yes, it's that time of year again… The Warehouse Project is back, with what's arguably their finest set of lineups to date.

The 2017 edition kicks off on 16th/17th September with a pair of very special LCD Soundsystem shows, before the opening party proper takes place the following weekend with Bicep, Ricardo Villalobos, Ben Klock, Seth Troxler, Ben UFO and countless others.

Looking through the calendar there's an absolute embarrassment of riches, but we've picked out a handful of acts who we're most excited for. See you lot in Manchester hopefully.

Bicep

Slowly but surely becoming one of the biggest draws in dance music without sacrificing an ounce of credibility, the Bicep boys are known for putting on a serious party. On the back of their forthcoming self-titled debut album – out next month on Ninja Tune – they're bringing Feel My Bicep to WHP on 18th Nov with Carl Craig, Moodymann, Rødhåd, Jayda G and loads more artists.

Central

Danish producer/DJ Natal Zaks aka Central has proven himself to be a real talent in a very short space of time. Last year's two-part Political Dance EP was followed recently by the Pillow Peace 12", and his Dekmantel mix was one of the finest we've heard in a long time. With a timeless approach and the ability to nail a very specific yet intangible vibe, Central is definitely one to keep a close eye on.

Avalon Emerson

Avalon is undoubtedly one of the most respected DJs on the scene right now, and with good reason, capable of harnessing electricity in any space. Her phenomenal B2B set with Courtesy at Sonar earlier this summer has already gone down in legend. Playing at Warehouse Project as part of the Feel My Bicep night, Avalon is sure to be one of the highlights.

Nadia Rose

Nadia Rose stands out among the current crop of grime newcomers for a number of reasons, chief among which is her stagecraft. Owning a live show is a very different proposition from banging out ace tracks, but Nadia has proven herself adept at both, shutting down every festival she's played this summer. With bangers like 'Skwod' and 'Wat Up' in her arsenal, this should be a must-see performance.

Ross From Friends

Don't be thrown off by the 'lo-fi house' tag – sure Ross From Friends' productions have that glorious hazy shimmer that's so in vogue right now, but there's nothing throwaway about them, they're constructed with more skill and emotion than most. He's strongest in a live setting though, where his band (keys + sax + guitar) are dead set on injecting a goofy, endearing sense of fun back into dance music.

LCD Soundsystem

Sold out instantly because, yeah, LCD Soundsystem – but we couldn't neglect to mention them here. James Murphy's legendary NYC outfit are finally unleashing their rabidly anticipated new album American Dream next month, just in time for two special shows opening the doors on Warehouse Project 2017. We can't wait to hear brand new material sandwiched in with all the classics.

Or:la

Orlagh Dooley aka Or:la is fast becoming one of the most exciting DJs in the country. Warehouse Project obviously agree with us – they've chosen her as one of this year's residents, so she'll be playing a number of shows across the series. Her talent as a selector belies her young years, and should be evident to anyone who's caught one of her sets in the past.

Young Marco

Whether he's digging deep for rare disco gems or playing Xmas tunes in July (fuck the haters!) Marco is one of our favourite DJs here at R$N Towers, and he always seems to raise his game an extra level when playing under the Dekmantel banner, as he'll be doing on 10th Nov alongside the likes of Marcel Dettman, Robert Hood and Call Super.
