Art & Culture

Laughter Yoga. They say laughter is the best medicine but why pay for a fake laugh when you could pay for a comic professional to bring on the belly aching, tear streaming hysteria of a proper laugh? The humble comedy slice here again giving you a taster of the comic prescriptions out there this week.

Sunday 2nd  – Edinburgh Fringe Festival Previews –  Crack Comedy Club – 9

The comedy extravaganza is drawing near, the particular time of year when comedy is 24/7 – the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It is fast approaching causing an array of other festivals such as Southbank’s Underbelly and The Previews. Previews are fantastic opportunities to catch a glimpse of what is on at the Fringe,  the comedian maybe not have got the routine down to a T but if you can’t make the Fringe it is worth checking out the likes of Crack Soho’s Edinburgh Previews. Tonight showcases the talents of James Acaster and Gareth Richards, both of whom were nominated for awards at last year’s Fringe. Who knows, you may just be getting a preview of 2013 award winner.

Monday 3rd June – Richard Herring’s Podcast – Leicester Square Theatre – 14

This is a chance to see the Sony Radio Award 2013 Best Comedy nominee and iTunes chart topping podcast live in action. A podcast that has gained such a following that the Guardian have dubbed Richard Herring the Podfather (oh the wit). A chat show with topical humour and improvised comedy chatter with some of the biggest names (previous shows have included Jonathan Ross, Russell Howard, Tim Michin Stewart Lee and Graham Linehan) it is winning formula. And that is even before I mention that tonights guest is Stephen Fry. A legend with a cult podcast  Monday just got a lot more appealing.
