As part of Black History Month, Rhythm Lab Records’ have launched “I just love how black it was!”, a new series exploring the history of Manchester’s Black music heritage.

The first episode brings together DnB and jungle veteran MC MADRUSH and rising producer Ethan Hill to discuss DnB’s rise in Manchester through conversation, storytelling and music.

This is the premiere in a series that aims to preserve, archive and validate these stories and experiences that continue to fuel the music that is the heartbeat of the UK.

A press release reads: “The history of Manchester’s underground electronic music scene is the history of black people in the North pushing the envelope of what parties can look like and sound like against many violent and systemic odds. The stories we remember about our past shape the ways we see each other in the present and the potential for imagining ourselves in the future. For too long that power has been imbalanced along the lines of gender, class, sexuality and race and the stories we tell about art and music have been no different.”

‘Corrupt Clarity’ releases on all digital platforms on 27/10/2021. The series is supported by Youth Music and Arts Council England.
