Track By Track: Msm – Misunderstood Collections

Music

This month marks the release of a debut album by London based production duo Metropolitan Soul Museum, titled "Misunderstood Collections" the ten track release is forthcoming on Dionysian Mysteries and sees the pair transcend the realms of stereotypical dance and club music as they delve deep into their influences and beyond the narrative that their 12" releases have become associated with. All with a melodic twist and groove laden edge of course.

We invited them to guide us through the new album and they do so in fine taste. See below:

Early Spring (now!)

What was the inspiration behind the track’s creation, was it another piece of music, some other experience etc?

I was in love with Maurice Fulton’s remix of DJ Nori at the time, particularly the everchanging bass line, but ideally being one of the first tracks we did this just came out quite organically as a jam…

A lovely sunny day during Italian Spring.

We were just jamming on a drum loop and it all came out as we were going along. But we knew this sounded cooler than other tracks we did and loved it from the first moment. The piece is dedicated to the late Andreas Ghem, as it was featured in the compilation that came out for him last year.
