Pye Corner Audio announces new album More Songs About The Sun, shares single ‘Cycle’ ft. Andy Bell

Martin Jenkins, aka Pye Corner Audio, has announced his second album for Sonic Cathedral. More Songs About The Sun arrives on June 19, picking up directly where 2022’s Let’s Emerge! left off – a record soaked in Balearic warmth, distortion, and near-wilful optimism.

Lead single ‘Cycle’ might be the most straightforward pop thing he’s ever put his name to. Synth-driven, indie-dance adjacent, and featuring shoegaze/psych guitar from Andy Bell (Ride, Oasis) – who appears on four of the album’s 12 tracks – it’s a proper shot of sunshine, with Martin stepping up to the mic himself for good measure.

The record’s other notable collaborator is Ian Rankin. The Scottish crime novelist lends a spoken word monologue to ‘The Breath Of Now’, a track Jenkins describes as conjuring a grimy ’80s urban chase scene. Not an obvious pairing on paper, but the two have been in touch for years, bonding over pints after an Edinburgh show back in 2017.

More Songs About The Sun is available to pre-order now on digital, CD and three vinyl variants — Solar Yellow, an indies-only Summer Solstice pressing, and a Bandcamp exclusive Sunspots edition. A live album launch show is set for London’s Oslo.
