The Duro and Calypso co-founders team up for an EP on Hard Fist.

Time was no longer on his side; the realisation had firmly hit home. Things that he’d once done with ease now felt like an effort, days that had seemed endless now passed by in the blink of an eye. While for some this may have caused anxiety and despair, he didn’t mind all that much. It gave him a strange sense of satisfaction; it was time to slow down and change the pace.

Next up in Lyon-based imprint Hard Fist’s busy schedule is a collaborative EP from two key figures in Mexico’s underground electronic scene: Thomass Jackson and Theus Mago. Separately the pair, who run Calypso Records and Duro respectively, have made a global impact with releases for the likes of Correspondant, Futureboogie, Multi Culti and many more. Recorded both together and remotely, due to the pandemic, and fuelled by intense FIFA sessions, the four tracks on El Venao capture their signature flare for tripped-out ritualistic club sounds, and come complete with a rerub from Ana Helder.
