Premiere: Matat Professionals – Quality Line (Willie Burns Remix)

Music

In an aural excursion that's millions of miles away from Dial M For Murder, Dial B For Funtime is the latest release from young Polish newcomer Matat Professionals. One of the track that features on this corker of an EP is a remix from Willie Burns of 'Quality Line' – something we maybe should have written here to either describe the track or for humorous effect.

We're giving you the chance to scope of the remix here first, as well as getting a taste of how the whole EP shapes up. To help us do so in great detail, Matat Professionals answers a few questions to give us a bit more an insight. First, here's your aural delight;

Who are you and what do you do?

I really wanted to paste lyrics from one of favourite songs but maybe I would regret that later, I know it. Instead I can assure you that I’m happy to be where I am now and lucky to know people who want to release my music on vinyl.

Why should we be listening to your music?

Hard to tell but feedback would be much appreciated because I'm feeling a lack of good conversation about where (good and true) dance music in my country is heading to because there's been a huge turning point. Have that in mind when we meet…

Fill in the blanks:

If you're not a fan of… sad, loopy house… you'll love me.

Who is making the music that you're hoping to rival?

Producers who can incorporate elements of absurdity, sexiness and laughter into their stuff.

Where do you think you'll be on November 22nd 2017?

Hoping to have some time off in a warmer country like Indonesia or Philippines. Have you seen "Days Of Being Wild”?

How are you making yourself stand out from the crowd?

Apparently I picked the right type of glasses for myself and, besides that, I think that I'm quite stubborn and patient which is very helpful in those times.

What would be your ideal date?

Starts simple, like meeting a girl by sharing a cabin in a train and it goes all the way through coffee in McDonalds, pizza slices on a bench in the park, renting a boat that’s near by pond and, of course, cheap wine on the roof of a building.

What do you smell like?

Right now it’s like some AXE or some other shitty brand. Perfumes are always the first to be left behind on trips, plus I'm very easily stressed and it’s common for me to be always on the run so, you know, sometimes could be not so sexy.

How do you take your tea?

I brew it at noon, drink around four in the afternoon. Repeat with the same leaves in the evening around ten and have a last sip at four in the morning.

Are you a good kisser?

Oh totally! Ladies, dial B for fun time…

If your sound were a fine wine, what would the label say about it?

"Please don’t pour into a glass. To achieve the best flavour, please drink it somewhere outside" and yeah, there would probably be some cheese and a badly drawn drunk doggy.

When did music last make you shed a tear?

Just yesterday, the temperature outside dropped to like five degrees so I made myself a Bacardi-based drink and played one of Jamie Tiller’s podcasts from his Soundcloud.

Who inspired you to get into music? Who inspires you now?

A friend Mateusz, well known for his generosity, open mind and good soul. As for people who inspire me now I would definitly point to DJ Harvey, Daniel Wang and places like SideOne (local record shop) with all those personas who are building the legend of that place.

What's on the way from you in the next few months?

I would do my best to get as far as possible away from that boring "Ableton-based" production and get along with MPC2000XL and the rest of the hardware that we put together with Rafał Grobel from S1 Warsaw. Since Way Back Studios is finally here, I could finish a handful of collaboration projects and maybe start a proper band.

How far would you go to get your music heard?

Wait two hours for my favourite artist by the backstage entrance with vinyl promo and besides that not much really. I really need to find a good solution on pushing my music and myself forward to the people.

Anything you'd like to add?

Ever been to Ibiza?
