Premiere: FKCLUB ft. Don Moyé – Superamerica
Sweat dripped from the walls and the smell of must clogged their nostrils as they made their way down the dark staircase. The distant thump of bass grew louder and louder, enveloping them as they descended into the darkness. As they reached the bottom, they were in a cavernous space full of writhing bodies, each one in tune to the music bellowing from the speakers that flanked the room. Here, the outside world could be forgotten, down in the basement was where they danced.
Marc Lapeyre lands on Astrolab Recordings with his second album under his FKCLUB moniker. Brutalism marks his first long player with this solo electronic project since his 2010 debut with We Spent All We Have, but his previous EPs have also seen him make homes on Relish, Dogs and Vultures, La Dame Noir and Labelle Records.
Produced on vintage analog machines and mixed on hardware, Brutalism sees Lapeyre marrying his two loves, rock and electronic music, for 12 raw and minimal tracks. Our pick is 'Superamerica' which features Don Moyé of the legendary band Art Ensemble Of Chicago on drums.
