Premiere: David Agrella – Transition
“Out with the old and in with the new” – that’s what they always say. But it’s never that easy in practice. The transition is always strange: it’s a period of change, sometimes of destruction, definitely of adjustment. Morphing from one form slowly into the next, prompted by actions of your own doing, or someone else’s. Things are going to be different and, unwilling or willing, you have to deal with it.
Having been immersed in music culture from a young age, becoming hooked on collecting records as well as training as a sound engineer, Italian DJ and producer David Agrella is now taking things up a notch with the launch of his new label, Agrellomatica Records. Named after his monthly radio show on Bloop, the imprint will be a space for his musical inspirations which bridge many different strains of electronic music. For his first outing he offers up a four tracker, ‘Transition’, which melds together fluid drum patterns, rubbery synth lines, soaring pads and dreamy electro grooves.
